Our Produce

What we grow

Between our season-extending hoop house and our field-grown produce, we grow around 30 different varieties of vegetables and fruits. What sets Hintz Produce apart from the competition is our standard for flavor and freshness. Our produce is harvested at peak ripeness, chilled if appropriate and delivered to local customers shortly thereafter.

Another Hintz Produce advantage is our early and late season produce availability. Since constructing our hoop house, we have been able to offer cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers long before and after the ‘traditional’ Nebraska growing season. Outside the hoop house, our vine crops like melons, pumpkins and squash are grown in rotation with our field crops and sweet corn. The rest of the veggies go in anywhere and everywhere else we have room!

Where we sell

At Hintz Produce we like to keep our business as local as possible, as we believe locally sustainable communities are the ones that will be around for the long haul. Our seasonal produce supplies a number of communities across southeast Nebraska from June to October. We operate a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program where member families purchase shares to receive a weekly subscription of vegetables for the duration of our growing season. For our non-subscription customers, our produce is available as follows:

  • 24/7 Honor System Farm Stand: Hebron

  • Tuesday: Geneva Farmers’ Market

  • Saturday: Hebron Farmers’ Market and Hastings Farmers’ Market

The rest of our summer we spend delivering produce to local grocery stores, nursing homes, schools, and restaurants, and we find more local partners every year.
